  1. As day declined he came past the gate of the court, 
  2. And as the night was drawing near,
  3. She sent messengers to ask the chieftain in. 
  4. And she came out herself to meet him, 
  5. To make him welcome and give greeting.
  6. When they changed their garb and sat down. 
  7. Blodeuedd looked on him, and no part of her
  8. Was not filled with burning love of him. 
  9. And he did not conceal that he loved her too. 
  10. Then that night they slept together.
  11. And on the morrow he sought to depart. 
  12. But she made him stay another night,
  13. And they took counsel how they might stay together. 
  14. And a third night he stayed there, only the next day
  15. When he sought to depart she did not prevent him.
  16. √îNow,√ï said he, √îspeak closely with him, 
  17. And under pretence of love for him, draw from him 
  18. What way his death might be brought about.√ï
